The Colombo High Court has ordered that the bribery case filed against former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and four others be recalled on February 13, the court ruled today (12).
The case, instituted by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal earlier today. After considering submissions made before court, the presiding judge directed that the matter be recalled on February 13, 2026.
The defendants in the case include former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, his son Ramith Rambukwella, his daughter Amali Nayanika Rambukwella, and a domestic aide identified as Nipuni Krishnajina.
According to the prosecution, the charges stem from alleged acts of corruption committed during Rambukwella’s tenure as a Cabinet Minister. It is alleged that names of individuals who were not legitimately attached to the minister’s personal staff were fraudulently included in the official payroll. The salaries and allowances allocated for those individuals were allegedly credited to bank accounts controlled by the accused.
The Bribery Commission has filed indictments against all defendants under charges of corruption and aiding and abetting the commission of the said offences. The accused have already been served with indictments and were subsequently released on bail by court.
Further proceedings in the case are scheduled to continue when it is taken up again on February 13, as ordered by the Colombo High Court.
