Education Reforms Focus on Digital Transformation and Future Skills

Sri Lanka is intensifying efforts to modernize its education system, placing a strong emphasis on digital transformation and the development of future-ready skills. Authorities are introducing new policies aimed at integrating technology into classrooms and improving overall learning outcomes.

Schools across the country are gradually adopting digital tools such as smart classrooms, online learning platforms, and interactive educational content. These initiatives are designed to enhance student engagement and provide access to a broader range of resources.

Teacher training programs are also being expanded to ensure educators can effectively utilize digital technologies. The government is working in collaboration with private sector partners and international organizations to accelerate these reforms.

However, challenges remain in bridging the digital divide, particularly in rural areas where access to reliable internet and devices is limited. Experts emphasize the need for equitable distribution of resources to ensure that all students benefit from technological advancements.

In addition to digital literacy, the education system is focusing on critical thinking, problem-solving, and vocational skills. These competencies are considered essential for preparing students for a rapidly changing global economy.

Stakeholders believe that sustained investment and policy consistency will be crucial in transforming Sri Lanka’s education sector into a more inclusive and future-oriented system.
