A temporarily decommissioned generator at the Norochcholai Power Plant has been restored following maintenance work.
However, the electricity produced by the restored unit has not yet been integrated into the national grid. Authorities report that the connection is expected to be completed in the coming days.
The Norochcholai facility has three operational generators capable of supplying 900 MW to the national electricity system. Currently, only one generator is actively feeding power into the grid.
One additional generator remains inactive, but efforts are underway to restore it to full operational capacity. Once all units are back online, the plant will resume its full contribution to Sri Lanka’s national power supply.
