Iran Retaliates: Missiles and Drones Hit Regional Targets

Iran responded swiftly to the US-Israeli strikes by launching a wave of missile and drone attacks across the Middle East, targeting US military bases and allied nations. The retaliation marked a significant escalation, expanding the conflict beyond Iran’s borders.

Missiles were reported heading toward bases in Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. Several were intercepted by air defense systems, but explosions were heard in multiple locations. At least one fatality was reported in Abu Dhabi.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that the strikes were part of a coordinated response to what it described as “aggression against Iranian sovereignty.” Officials warned that further retaliation would follow if attacks continued.

Airspace closures were implemented across the Gulf region, disrupting international travel. Airlines suspended flights to several countries, while governments issued urgent security warnings.

The strikes also targeted strategic installations, including energy infrastructure and military facilities. Analysts noted that Iran’s ability to strike multiple countries simultaneously demonstrated its regional reach.

Saudi Arabia confirmed that its capital, Riyadh, was targeted, though damage reports remained limited. Kuwait reported a drone strike near its airport, causing injuries to several workers.

The escalation raised fears of a wider regional conflict involving multiple nations. Diplomatic efforts intensified as global leaders called for restraint.

The rapid expansion of hostilities highlights the fragile security environment in the Middle East, with concerns that the situation could spiral into a full-scale war.
