Gulf Region Under Direct Threat as Iran Expands Retaliation

The conflict between Iran and the US–Israel alliance has now expanded beyond Iranian territory, placing the entire Gulf region under unprecedented military pressure. In a coordinated retaliation, Iran launched waves of ballistic missiles and armed drones targeting multiple US military installations and allied facilities across the Middle East.

Key targets reportedly included Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, and the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. Air defense systems were activated across the region, with several countries confirming interceptions of incoming missiles. However, explosions were reported in multiple locations, including Abu Dhabi, where at least one civilian casualty has been confirmed.

The escalation has forced several Gulf nations to shut down their airspace temporarily, disrupting global aviation routes. Major airlines, including Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines, have suspended flights to multiple destinations across the Middle East due to security concerns. Sirens and emergency alerts were activated across cities, signaling the seriousness of the threat.

Regional governments have strongly condemned the attacks, describing them as violations of sovereignty. At the same time, Iran has justified its actions as a “legitimate response” to what it calls aggression by the United States and Israel.

Military analysts warn that the widening conflict risks drawing more countries directly into the war. With multiple nations now affected, the Gulf—home to critical global energy infrastructure—has become a central battlefield. Any further escalation could disrupt oil supplies, impact global markets, and trigger a broader international crisis.

As tensions continue to rise, the Middle East stands at the brink of a much larger confrontation, with no clear signs of de-escalation.
