Sri Lankan Rupee Depreciates: US Dollar Selling Rate Surpasses Rs. 320

According to the official exchange rates released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) today, April 20, 2026, the selling rate of the US Dollar has surpassed the Rs. 320 mark. This indicates a notable fluctuation in the local currency value against major foreign currencies.

Today’s Currency Breakdown:

  • US Dollar ($): The buying rate was recorded at Rs. 312.83, while the selling rate climbed to Rs. 320.27.
  • British Pound (£): The selling rate reached a high of Rs. 433.87.
  • Euro (€): The buying and selling rates were recorded at Rs. 366.61 and Rs. 378.21, respectively.

Financial analysts suggest that the rising global oil prices and the volatile geopolitical situation in the Middle East are exerting pressure on the Sri Lankan Rupee, leading to this recent depreciation.
