Louisiana Mass Shooting: Nine Dead, Including Eight Children

A devastating mass shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, has left nine people dead, including eight children between the ages of 18 months and 14 years.

Incident Overview:

  • The Crime Scene: The shooting occurred early Sunday morning (April 19) across three different homes in the Cedar Grove neighborhood. It is being investigated as a domestic-related mass murder.
  • Victims: In addition to the eight deceased children, two women are in critical condition with head wounds, and an adolescent boy was injured after jumping from a roof to escape.
  • The Perpetrator: The suspected gunman is believed to have been the father of some of the children and had a domestic relationship with both injured women.
  • Police Response: After the initial shooting, the suspect carjacked a vehicle and led police on a high-speed chase into Bossier City, where he was eventually shot and killed by an officer.

The Mayor of Shreveport described the incident as a “horrific tragedy” and a “nightmare” for the entire community. Authorities are still working to identify all the victims formally.
